Porcelain Veneers from your Waterbury Cosmetic Dentist
December 10, 2015
What happens when you smile? Do you beam and gladly share your happiness or do you struggle to keep your mouth closed so no one sees your damaged teeth? Or even worse—do you always use your hand to cover your smile? If this is you, then maybe you should consider covering your smile permanently. Porcelain veneers do just that. Made of dental porcelain or composite resin materials, porcelain veneers conceal the smile Mother Nature gave you and reveal the dazzling smile you want.
At Waterbury Smiles, Dr. Marini and Dr. Mancini use porcelain veneers to correct a number of different smile flaws, including:
- Chipped, cracked or fractured teeth
- Teeth that are irreversibly stained or discolored
- Teeth that have wide gaps between them
- Teeth that are somewhat misaligned
- Misshaped teeth or teeth that are proportionally smaller than others
If you were to address each one of these problems individually, you’d likely need to spend a fair amount of time and quite a bit of money to improve your smile. Cosmetic bonding or porcelain crowns for broken teeth, teeth whitening for stained teeth, and even orthodontics for crooked teeth. Alternatively, you can simply hide these imperfections behind a perfect set of veneers from the Waterbury dentist.
Getting Porcelain Veneers
When you come to Waterbury Smiles to consult with one of our dentists about porcelain veneers, be sure to talk about what you want to achieve with this cosmetic dentistry procedure. In fact, you may want to bring photos of people who have smiles that you admire. Along with the unique features of your teeth, your mouth and your face, we’ll be glad to consider your personal preferences, too.
Receiving veneers usually takes no more than two appointments. To begin the process, we take a comprehensive set of photos, x-rays and molded impressions of your teeth and mouth. Then, we’ll need to prep your teeth by removing a minimal amount of enamel, so that your customized veneers fit seamlessly in your mouth and do not protrude. We want your smile to look better and natural. You’ll leave this first appointment wearing temporary veneers that will protect your prepared teeth and give you a chance to get used to the feeling of veneers in your mouth.
Along with Dr. Marini’s or Dr. Mancini’s specifications, the x-rays, photos and impressions are sent to our dental lab where a skilled ceramist makes each one of your veneers. Your second appointment will be a few weeks later. We’ll remove the temporaries and carefully bond your permanent porcelain veneers to the teeth in your smile zone. When finished, you’ll have a smile that you’ll never want to cover up again!
